Bungie changed that so people could understand him. Besides, the same guy did the voices for both Balor and Soulblighter, so it would be easy for him to accidentally make Soulblighter sound too much like Balor.

Eh? He still looks like a faceless human to me. It's not just his lips he cut off, it's his whole face, from the bridge of the nose and down. Of course he's gonna look mutilated, he IS!

I've wondered about this. It doesn't look like a completely different expression to me. It's like, he kills the Dwarf, then hears something and looks over his shoulder, turns into crows and flies away. This is the one part of your theory that I think hold up, and I wonder what it's all about...
