: This is Duckyjo's character. He is not insane. He only
: wants to be a dwarf.
: Berel was born 13 years before soulblighter fell into
: Tharsis. His parents were simple townsfolk in
: Covenant. His father worked with the wife making and
: selling clothes. Berel, since his eighth birthday,
: wanted to grow up to be a dwarf. He met a few in his
: so far short lifetime, and liked every one of them.
: Unfortunately for Berel, his parents had other ideas.
: On his tenth birthday, Berel's parents gave him up to
: live with a wizard who had been watching him for many
: years. This wizard, a man by the name of Skrati, had
: seen Berel playing with his friends and immediately
: realized the child's potential for magery. He talked
: to Berels parents, told them that Berel could be a
: great wizard some day, and gave them a large sum of
: money to make up for the loss of the young worker in
: return for taking him on as an apprentice.
: So it came to be that Berel started his apprenticeship
: with Skrati. For two years Berel studied the arts or
: magery. He did almost nothing but study for those two
: years, and he did not like it one bit. He still would
: have rather been a dwarf. After those two years
: passed, though, Skrati started to have nightmares. He
: started to say strange things about the Great War,
: talking about his past. He told Berel that he had been
: present when Shiver was killed, and when the Deceiver
: was imprisoned. He was very disturbed about the
: Deceiver, for some reason. Berel never found out why.
: Not long after the nightmares started, Skrati packed
: up everything in his home and took Berel with him into
: his hidden workshop deep within the ruins of Leix. For
: another eleven months they studied. Berel became very
: knowledgable about most things in the world, but he
: knew nothing of the events that were transpiring
: across the continent. Eleven months to the day after
: moving to Leix, Skrati disappeared. Berel searched the
: entire island for him, but everything was as it had
: been the night before. But Skrati was gone. Two days
: later, Berel packed as many of the lorebooks and
: spellbooks as he could carry into his pack and
: travelled back to Covenant. He found only ruins. After
: many days of travelling, Berel came across a
: travelling group of legionnaires. He went to
: Muirthemne with them, and learned all that had
: transpired during the past year.
: At this point in time, Berel is in Muirthemne, trying to
: decide what to do with his life. He'd like to go check
: out Stoneheim to see the dwarves, but isn't quite sure
: if it's safe yet. He also wants to find out what
: happened to Skrati, but that's not on the top of his
: list of priorities. His parents are. He wants to find
: his parents first. If they are still alive, that is.
: BUMBADUMBA! Whaddaya think Willy? This would make the
: character not much older than 14 or so, so he's a
: young 'un. Yeah. Hmm, I'm noticing a wizardly trend to
: the group so far :) necromancer, goddish guy, dwarf
: wannabe.
