I've also got a lot of characters fleshed out for a story I was going to write but never did. They would make some pretty cool characters, PCs or more likely NPCs, I think. Here they are:
The Dark:
Number One (Fetch) - Calculating, with a calm exterior but a burning rage just beneath the skin. Summoned by Balor sixty years ago, she grudgingly serves under PeeWee only in hopes of finding a way home through the dark magics common in their company. Like most Fetch, being trapped on our world only increases her hatred of all it's inhabitants.
Oogabooga (Maul) - An angry, impatient beast. Most of his Maul friends returned to the Steppes after Soulblighter's defeat, but Oogabooga sustained many wounds in just as many battles, and does not intend to go home empty-handed after all he's been through. He wants his own land to dominate, and will beat any living thing into the ground to get it.
Crook (Brigand) - His name says it all. A thieving, keniving, profiteering crook. Equipped with sword and shield from his short tenure under Baron Kildaer, he met up with PeeWee in a bar in Tallow. He works only for the spoils of war, and should the spoils ever stop coming...
Bugsquish (Myrmidon) - Rather shy, with a bruised ego, a big angry talker but cowardly when it comes to actions. One of the few remaining Myrmidons, Bugsquisher is shunned by the living because of his traitorous past, so instead he allies with whatever the stongest other power is. Currently that is PeeWee, and he serves as his general, rarely fighting himself, and as a scout, due to his inherant speed. He hopes to someday crush all that have shunned him; to destroy the forces of the light for his humiliation.
The Dancing Scabs (Wights) - PeeWee's wights have picked up an odd affinity for music. Particularly, disco. The favorite amongst them, understandably, is "Play That Funky Music Wight Boy" by the Spice Ghols.
The forces of darkness also make use of nameless hordes of terrible monsters. Some creatures in these hordes include Myrkridia and Myrkridian Giants, undead Thrall and Soulless, and the non-living Stygian Knights. Each of these creatures has their own unique personality. Myrkridia are salivating, floppy-eared, ravenous dogs; but around their masters, they become mere puppies. Their masters, the Myrkridian Giants, are cruel and ill-tempered tyrants who would eat their own children to set example for the others. They serve Soren only out of gratitude, for his brother ressurected them. Thrall are somewhere between stoners and infants; when given an order, they will sometimes cock their head in confusion for a moment, then when re-ordered, simply march into certain death with nary a shrug. Soulless and Stygian Knights are both emotionless, expressionless drones, executing their orders without feeling or care.
The Light:
Patsy (Warrior) - Clumsy, but stupidly brave, charging into danger without worry. A young soldier of the Province, in his late teens, he has always had a knack for barely evading death and destruction, which has given him his careless bravado attitude. He feels unfairly small in the big scheme of things, and is always trying to prove himself, to increase his honor and respect among his peers. Though he doesn't know it, the very Universe itself is out to protect him.
Seducer (Ghol) - Bred and raised by the Ghols to be the pinnacle of beauty, she was to be the Sexy Ghol Goddess, to seduce human men to her side and through them gain the power needed to crush the evil Dwarves. However, she became a kind, loving creature, because she was bred and raised to have these qualities; just not quite like they other Ghols intended. She loves *everyone*, the flowers and the trees and the bloodied, putrid mud, the birds and the sky, Ghols and Humans and even the filthy Dwarves. So, when she was to be seducing a general of the Provinces and taking his patrol to her side, and a battle took place between her people and theirs, she took pity on the sole surviving Human (Patsy) and nursed him back to health. She now shares a tenuous sort of forbidden love with him.
Seven Lima Bean Lemur (Journeyman) - A stoner, plain and simple. Like most journeymen, he is a wanderer. In his travels, he came across the amazing mind-expanding capabilities of the Mandrake roots which all journeymen carry. Now he staggers about the continent, taking in the new sights of the world which he never saw before finding "the root". He's always offering some root to others nearby, and constantly preaching about world peace and equality and how we can all just get along. He also wears a pair of Lennon-style glasses which, being made for the far-sighted, make him near-sighted. Thus whenever he actually needs to see something well, he'll glance around to make sure nobody's looking, lift his glasses for a moment, and then put them back in place before anybody can notice.
Smelli (Dwarf) - Cranky and defensive, Smelli is, well... smelly. And not happy about it one bit. Your stereotypical cranky New Yorker. "Oh, I'm sorry, does my bodily odor OFFEND you? Would you prefer it if I wore a PINE WREATH upon my neck?" Smelli also invented the deep frier, as a part of his revolutionary "McFoods" resturaunt (named after his old friend Happi McFood). McFoods is the love of his life, and he'd do anything for it.
ou'Eee (fir'Bolg) - A rather goofy, somewhat cowardly archer friend of Smelli's. Technically, this is ou'Eee junior. After the Great War, Smelli and ou'Eee senior settled down just south of what would eventually become Tallow. As Dwarves have dramatically longer lifespans than most other races, ou'Eee senior died off long ago, while Smelli lived on to raise ou'Eee junior. In Smelli's care, and with occasional visiting fir'Bolg from the Ermine coming down to visit, ow'Eee has not only learned the traditional fir'Bolg archery skills, but is significantly talented in the elements of fire and stone. He has also dabbled in the mystical arts, but to little avail. Contrary to Patsy, ow'Eee always tries to avoid danger, but always ends up getting hurt, regardless. This is because of a curse which was placed on his father, that has been passed down to him. His quest for a cure to this curse is the reason he dabbles in any and all things arcane.
Tweedum of the Frighteningly Large Head Wound, and
Deedle with an Oversized Butter Knife (Berserks) - Peote-crazed berserks who love to hack at anything and everything (including eachother). Twin sons of Deedum of the Thousand Husbands and Tweedle Starter of Bar Fights, they are together known as "Tweedle's boys", "the Tweedle boys", or simply "the Tweedles". Like most of their kind, the Tweedles are always eager to fight. However, the frighteningly large head wound which is Tweedum's namesake has made him a little on the dumb side (from a berserk perspective). At the prospect of a fight, he chooses the coward's path, to find aid and even the odds of battle before engaging the enemy. However, when the odds are even, or in his favor, he will not hesitate to charge in and attack, like any self-respecting berserk would.
Eleven Purple Polka Dots (Heron Guard) - Big brother of Seven Lima Bean Lemur. He was enlisted into the Guard seven years before Lima was, and Lima has rather resented it for him since, not to mention the typical older-brother-envy. Purple is a hearty character, a warm, fatherly man, a big brother to those near his age (Lima, Abracadabra, Smelli & Vegdrasil, and Backwoods), and a jolly old uncle to the younger generation (Patsy, Seducer, ou'Eee, the Tweedles, and Siskel). Don't let his positive outlook and wise old grin decieve you, though; he can and will terminate the enemies of the Empire with extreme prejudice. He is always trying to convince his brother to lay off the root, but to no avail.
Abracadabra (Warlock) - A crabby old magician who would much rather not be here, no matter where "here" is. He's a loner, always insisting on staying far from the crowd. He will never respond to anyone but his superior officers (Purple) unless addressed as "Oh Mighty Powerfull One", "Great Abracadini", etc. He is rather defensive in regards to his magical skills, and often resorts to cheesy parlor tricks to subdue his audience into belief (pulling rabbits from hats, etc), but for a truely skeptical audiance who doesn't respond to such simply displays he will sometimes roar with anger and turn a nearby tree into a column of fire or melt a rock into a puddle on the ground, at which an audience usually falls silent.
Vegdrasil (Dwarven Mortar) - A clutzy old Dwarf with fire in his fists and death on his back. He's rather good-spirited, but has a certain love of blowing things into total oblivion, and when not doing so to the enemy he can often be found using a cliffside or a river or an open plain as a makeshift firing range. He is an old aquaintance of Smelli, and in their childhood he would taunt him for his strange name, but always in jest. Smelli rarely took it in jest, however, and somewhat resents him for it. So he gave Vegdrasil his own nickname, "Whoopsi." Only Smelli and a few other Dwarves ever call him this, however; to most, his cordial name is "Veg," or the nickname "Veggi".
Siskel (Bowman) - He is best described as a newbie. He looks up - and sucks up - to everyone, always feeling small and inexperianced, asking whether he should do this or that, etc. But he is especially admiring to ou'Eee, because his father Ybert trained under ou'Eee senior. Ybert always told his son tales of the great ou'Eee's archery prowess, and of the horrible curse the evil bre'Unor Tic-Tak placed upon him and all his family. For some reason, Siskel seems convinced that ou'Eee junior must have the same skills as his father, and so he is always asking him for advice. He is also trying to help ou'Eee be rid of his curse, bringing any arcane material he finds to his attention.
Backwoods (Forest Giant) - Simply put, he's a big chicken. Why? That's a long story. After the last battle at Seven Gates during the Great War, his parents settled down in the Ermine instead of returning to Forest Heart. There they made fast friends with the fir'Bolg, and settled down in one of their villages. However, when Backwoods was only seven years old, a bre'Unor raid on the fir'Bolg village destroyed his parents, leaving him orphaned. The fir'Bolg did not have the capacity to raise him on their own, so they brought the young Giant to a nearby Human village. There he was raised, outside of his traditional forest setting, and grew up unlike any Forest Giant before. He's afraid of everything a Giant should revel in; open spaces, sunlight, water, dirt, air, you name it. On the other hand, he loves the glowing warmth of fire, and has to be reminded not to touch it or else he'd catch himself on fire. Because of his fear of the things which keep him alive, he isn't exactly in the best shape; he need glasses, orthopedic shoes, a back brace, and he always wears a sweatsuit (sweatshirt and sweat pants) to shield his sensitive skin from the sunlight.
Bob (Ghast) - While traveling through Tallow, Seducer met a friendly little Ghast who followed her home. The attitude of a Ghast is essentially that of a Thrall; confused and infantile, but quite obediant. Nobody really likes Bob, understandably, except for Seducer (as Ghols have an odd inherant likening for shambling-corpse pets), Patsy (who tolerates him simply because Seducer is his lover), and Seven Lima Bean Lemur (who loves everybody, regardless). Seducer is always tending him like a son, with Lima using small chunks of his mandrakes to fix him up, and Patsy grumbling over to the side at the idiocy of tending a walking corpse-man. Likewise, Purple wants to return the poor thing to it's grave, but his brother Lima defends Bob, and Patsy just groans.
He Who Makes Mud Pies (Skrael) - He's an airhead; loses focus all the time, and whetever it is he's focusing on a a given moment, he can't think of anything else. For example, he could be told that he gets to go the the Dire Marsh, gets all exited about that, then remembers something else that he's always wanted to do in the Marsh, and when told "good, then you should enjoy our trip there", he would respond "Where?", and when reminded, he'll get exicted about it all over again. Despite this, he is leader of the Muddwellers' Union, a labor group in Muddville, Deep Mire. Part of his job is to welcome newcomers to the southeastern part of the Mire. This is where he will meet Tweedum, and later excercise his influence on the Skrael to defeat PeeWee.
Neutral/Misc.
Ignue Ferroque (Trow) - Large, deep-throated, well-mannered, eloquent, but still quite evil when he wants to be. He's a "proper" bad guy, cordial and polite, like a James Bond villain. He's rather small for a Trow, around nine feet tall instead of the more common twelve, and this has earned him the nickname "PeeWee". He has learned the secrets of Mister Special Chosen One, the Finger of the Universe who was sent to scratch some itch. PeeWee believes that this person will be a mighty Trow, who will scratch the itch of the weaker races which dominate the lands which once belonged to the mighty Trow empire. That is his sole goal in life, to build the Trow empire to it's former glory, and he'll take whatever path neccesary to reach that goal.
Tic-Tak (bre'Unor) - An insane, raving, mumbling bre'Unor shaman. Decades ago, he cast a curse upon the family of the fir'Bolg who killed his noble father, that no matter what measures were taken, eu'Yukee, his wife yo'Moma, their child ou'Eee, and the children and families of all their descendants would be cursed with misfortune, but never allowed to die before their time, for death would be too good for them. By now he has long moved on to other matters, as eu'Yukee and yo'Moma have been dead for decades and their child ou'Eee moved out of the Ermine during the Great War. He now heads the southeastern division of the Church of b’Y’laggo, and leads regular raids of the fir'Bolg and Human villages in that area.
Scary Bedtime Stories (Mahir) - He's the boogyman, the thing that goes bumb in the night, the monster under your bed that insists it's not really there. He never eats any people, just their livestock, but he revels in frightening little children and propogating the myth that if they're not good and don't do what their parents say, the evil Mahir will come and get them.
