: Thats a nice idea an' all, but wouldn't it be more fun to
: be going around and trying to find all this stuff out
: instead of already knowing it?
Well, I planned on his quest mostly being to find his true nature. He has some idea that he's really, really important, but has no idea how or in what way. Through the game, I plan on him coming across various new inklings to his true nature. In the end, he would only find out who he actually is - he's not due to regain all his power and discover a new Dream for another 50 years or so.
: Thats fine, as long as you roleplay it as though he
: doesn't know what it is. Also see what i put above.
Of course, I plan to do so. Though you, as the GM, would have to find ways for clues to be dropped, people and things that he has to go and find to discover some part of his true nature.
: I am using the advantages/disadvatages from GURPS Lite
: and GURPS Myth. I am using some skills from GURPS Lite
: mixed with my own creations and skills from GURPS
: Myth. I doubt you'd have enough character points to
: have all those skills at even reasonable levels,
: unless you character is quite old (amount of point
: allowed on skills = age x 10. Unless of course you are
: REALLY old in which case you start losing pts).
All the disadvantages I took (mostly restricting freedom of action - he's a Good Guy, and thus can't do Bad Things) gave me a lot of spare character points to play with. I figure I couldn't have all those skills, but I just tallied up the skills I'm interested in. Some of them are essential to the character - Area Knowledge, Camoflage, Humanities (Philosophy/Theology, History, Literature), Naturalist, Occultism, Research, Social Sciences (Sociology), and Survival - and the others are just to flesh out his interests (he's creative, so I put singing, dancing, painting, and writing, though I could drop dancing and painting) and neccesary skills (decent use of a small shield and sword). And of course, the Very Hard Languages and Gestures skills are neccesary for talking with all the different races he knows.
(As for his age, I was planning on making him around thirty, since, using an average human life-span of 80, that would have given him one normal life previous to this one in this cycle of his spirit, and have him scheduled to die right about when he discovers a new Dream).
