Well, yeah. But my theory says he was alive all the time (as opposed to dying and being reanimated later), so there would never have been a point when he lost possession of the crow and Soulblighter could escape.

We actually had this argument a while ago. Looks like I'm going to have to revoke your "omniscience" special attack and replace it with "Forrest's memory becomes so bad that waves of amnesia travel out to the enemy, who freeze for ten seconds while their combat experience drops to 0." :) (Wow, that looks like something Mage would do.)
Yes, "Twice Born" occurred on the same date as "Shiver." A Saturday, to be precise. But "The Forge," which is when Soulblighter dies, occurs two days later on Monday. So The Deceiver has to have survived until then. And I personally think he must have survived continously; if he was dead even for a few seconds I'd imagine Soulblighter would have felt it and escaped.
