: In 'Out of The Barrier' we are told: "Alric babbled
: about a suit of armor so powerful that its wearer was
: invulnerable to attack and tireless in battle. He
: claimed that it was buried somewhere in the eastern
: desert, and that he had been sent by The Head to
: retrieve it."
: This armor sounds very much like the armor Balor wears,
: with the exception that Balor is eventually killed
: whilst wearing his armor, and this armor is supposed
: to make the wearer invulnerable. Just a thought.
We don't know much about Balor's armor--given that Soulblighter was virtually invulnerable and tireless without wearing any armor at all, it's quite possible that Balor's armor was perfectly ordinary and that all his toughness came from his own magics. On the other hand, it might be that the reason The Deceiver's army captured Alric was that they had gone to look for that same armor, and had already found it and sent it off to Balor. Maybe he would have been completely invulnerable if he hadn't raised the helmet a bit to give his neck some air. All GURPS says of Balor's armor is that he was "clad in plate," so we're free to theorize as we wish.
Are you curious as to why the armor was buried in the Eastern desert to begin with? That would mean that it belonged to someone in the Cath Bruig empire. Perhaps Damas found it and hid it there?
