Hows this for an idea? You could set your game some time during the age of Reason. So much is unknown about that time that you could make it up as you went along. Think about it, the human empire is expanding "forming an over lay of the trow domains" the trow are still masters of the world(although they are on the decline) and their temples are still entact. Having your PCs enteracting with the giants at their peak could make for interesting play.
Or you could do a smaller game set during the 20 year war of susseion(however thats spelled). I would have to go back and check but it seems that the west was once part of the Cath'Bruig empire, and that the war was one of Independence. Please correct me if I am misinformed.
