: He would find the Eblis Stone the same way that Damas
: found a small object like the Tain...doing a lot of
: looking. Besides, he there are five of them, making it
: easier. Look, there are numerous possibilities. The
: Cath Bruig might have actually had it in storage, so
: maybe Alric was waiting for a chance to use it. Maybe
: there were old records of where it was hidden. Maybe
: one of the Nine had been looking for it, and was using
: his magical abilities to probe for it. Maybe he had
: somebody slowly tracking it down, based on historical
: records. Maybe the Codex told of its location.
We have to remember that Connacht launched a campaign to search out the artifacts and destroy them. Resources and soldiers were most likely used. Alric has done no such thing.
: I can dream up a thousand possibilities--in any case,
: there's nothing even close to a convincing reason as
: to why the D had to tell Alric where to find the
: stone. The only evidence you bring up is that the D
: was alive back then, but
: 1. There are J-men who were alive back then, too
: 2. Connacht once owned the Tain, which meant Damas knew
: where it was...yet, in the thousand-year interval,
: Damas lost track of it. Same thing probably happened
: with the Deceiver...he probably didn't have a clue as
: to where to find the Eblis Stones.
: I'm not quite sure what you're talking about here. Are
: you still talking about the Eblis Stone? Are are you
: pushing the idea that the D told Alric where to find
: the Watcher's arm? If the latter, remember, it makes
: no sense (and Dan agrees with me on this one) for the
: D to tell Alric where the arm is, then end up fighting
: Alric's men when they come to claim it.
I was drawing a parallel, I'm sure you're familiar with the concept. To show you how difficult it is to find things, I stated that it took the Deceiver over a year to narrow down the location of the Watcher's arm (though he lost it) even though the Deceiver was the one who imprisoned the Watcher. I was trying to show how hard it is to find things in the Myth world.
: Also, none of this jives with your "slipped
: info" theory. How the hell does the D
: "accidentally" tell Alric both where an
: Eblis Stone is along with where to find the Watcher's
: arm? Alric would know something is fishy.
Huh? There is no way to tell how the Deceiver could have told Alric where the Eblis stone was or how to use the Watcher's arm against him. (By the way, enough arguing about who gave the Alric the info of the arm...
the Head told the Legion where to look for it). I am allowed to postulate a theory, I do believe. You can neither disprove it or provide your own sound theory so I don't see why you would bother arguing. We just don't have enough information to say one way or the other.
And again, if you can tell me how the Legion knew of the Watcher's weakness (and don't tell me it could have been a common thing among sorcerers because that is based on nothing), the location of the Eblis stone and how Alric was rescued so easily, then I'll give up my theory. But, you can't so I'm permitted to think what I want.
We have to remember that we are basing everything we speak of on a journal that was written sporadically and by one person. This one man could not have known what went on in every place at every second of the Great War.
