Obviously not. So either the Head must have told, or they read about it in the Codex.

Exactly. The Tain was one of the other items Damas rounded up. He took everything he could find to his temple in the Untamed Lands. If the Cath Bruig had had that Ebilis Stone, it would have ended up in the same place.
