I can't remember what the pre-game to "Silvermines" says...but however the Light found out, they simply might have been reluctant to revisit the town because the Deceiver controlled it. Anyway, it makes absolutely no sense for the Deceiver, as part of a pact, to tell Alric the location of the arm, then end up fighting back when the Light comes to pick it up.

There's no way to tell what happened a thousand years ago. Think about the Tain--Connacht once controlled it, yet it got all the way to the Untamed Lands, where Soulblighter had to dig it up. In any case, still no indication that the Deceiver had to tell Alric where the Eblis Stone was--no indication he would know, anyway.
