In Response To: Re: READ THIS, NOT BELOW (I hit "POST" b (Charon)

: I can't find my Myth I CD, but I could've sworn he said
: that he learned it "during his interrogation by
: Balor." That could suggest two things. First, it
: could mean, literally, while he was being talked to by
: Balor, which would kill Chris's theory. Admittedly, it
: might mean during the general ordeal, i.e., the four
: months that Alric was imprisoned, during which time,
: yeah, the D might have managed to meet with Alric.
: This still doesn't answer the other five points that I
: bring up, however.

: That's a theory I've been pushing under the assumption
: that it was BALOR that Alric learned about the bond
: from--this would explain discrepancies between what
: Alric reported would happen and what actually happened
: after Balor died (if any such discrepancies exist--I
: would argue none do). Anyway, how exactly would the
: Deceiver manage this "slip"? And why, as
: I've been asking for a VERY long time now, wouldn't he
: simply make an outright deal with Alric, which would
: eliminate the risks of 1. Alric might not get the hint
: 2. Alric might not make it out of the Barrier.

Here :

"Alric was interrogated by Balor during his captivity, and he learned by chance that Balor had bound each of The Fallen to himself, to ensure their obedience to his will. The Fallen draw their power through these links, and were Balor to be killed they would all be powerless. The armies of the Dark would collapse."

All of that is a clear lie. The Fallen Lords were not powerless after Balor's defeat. SB was not affected (after all, he has no magical abilities) and the Deceiver was up and running again even though he jammed in the ice for 60 years. Even Shiver, who had died, was alive and kicking. They were not powerless.

And please, don't counter with "they were powerless for the time being but regained their strength". That's impossible. If they got their power through Balor and his death rendered them powerless then there would be no way for it to come back. Time doesn't heal all wounds.

Now, if Balor had given that information directly to Alric, then that would make absolutely on sense. Why would Balor lie about the link? He's only inviting the full brunt of the Legion to hasten to their pace to his fortress. He's asking to be beaten, basically. If Balor did interrogate Alric, he wouldn't give him false information that would leave him dead but the other Lords alive. There is no logic in that. If Balor was going to say anything, he's tell Alric that all the Lords are independant and not linked with himself, so Alric would have to go around and hunt each Lord out and destroy them one by one. Then the two missing Fallen Lords would come into play and the war would have extended much, much longer than it had. now, why would Balor tell Alric something that was not true, and especially something that would force the Legion to attack him with all they've got and leave his other Lords behind? The Leveller seeks to destroy, not twist the truth and get beaten.

Alric would have had to learn that info from somewhere else.

Chris
