Actually, in the Age of Light (Wolf Age), it explains that the comet appears at the time that Connacht appears in the east. Thus the comet, '..foretells the rise of saviour or destroyer...'. I would also then assume that this happens in the other ages, except when Balor comes and the comet appears five decades too late (apparently).
Doesn't a comet appear at some point in TFL?

Where did all this stuff about Connacht/Alric spirit originate from?
