: If you look at page 31 of the Myth:TFL instruction
: manuel, you will see a picture of the Deceiever with
: an eyepatch over his right eye. I think there's also
: another picture of him with the patch in front of a
: big army of thrall somewhere.
: If you look at any picture of him in Myth II, he does not
: have an eyepatch, nor is there any apparent reason why
: he used to wear one (his eye seems perfectly normal).
: Whats goin on there?
Well, back when we were still arguing over whether the Deceiver had survived or not, and GURPS wasn't there to clear it up for us, I hypothesized that the guy we saw throughout the game wasn't actually the Deceiver at all, but just some poor old guy Myrdred had charmed, dressed in his clothes, and sent out to fight and die in his stead. (I might even suggest that Myrdred had done this during the Great War--while Myrdred fled for parts unknown, his hapless double was tracked down and thrown into the river by the Light Army. Myrdred's been alive and well and lurking in the shadows of the Mythworld for 60 years, while his double lay in the ice.) That would explain why his power level was so much weaker, and why he let Shiver's death explosion kill him.
Yes, I do have a penchant for "Person X isn't really Person X" theories. :)
