Pls, tell me, what is your theory at this point? Is it that the Deceiver was the SOLE captor of Alric? Was Balor present? If Balor was present, he wouldn't "let Alric escape," as you are theorizing, so I'm assuming you think Balor wasn't there.
So, if the Deceiver was Alric's captor, the theory I think you're elucidating is that he caught Alric, then realized this could be his big chance to assist the Cath Bruig, then decided he had to trick Alric to give him information. However, this theory suffers from a problem that I've been pointing out for a while now. Alric thought he had been interrogated by Balor--if the Deceiver was his captor and interrogator, the D must have tricked Alric somehow. However he did it, it makes less sense for him to "let something slip" and hope both that Alric would get the hint and buy his disguise, as opposed to being straight with him and saying: "I am bound by Balor. Kill him and I can help you."
I know that you've brought up that Alric wouldn't trust the Deceiver, but I don't see why...Alric surely knew he was Myrdred (he certainly did in Myth II) and would likely believe that the D had been bound against his will and honestly wanted to help. The D could certainly prove this by telling Alric that he would let Alric's impending rescue team escort him to safety with minimal loss of life--which you theorize is what actually happened. But, of course, what I just outlined is made impossible, again, by the fact that Alric claimed it was Balor who interrogated him...clearly the D made no such friendly gesture.
