Okay, okay. I don't have Myth 2, so I'm getting all my knowledge from the journal entries, bungie's site of characters and reading posts.
: Here's my take on it. An "avatara" in Myth is
: synonymous with a "powerfull sorceror". The
: avatara are not a race. The Nine are described as
: "powerfull sorcerors"; thus, all of the Nine
: are avataras. The Deceiver was an avatara of the Wolf
: Age. All shades are ressurected avataras.
All Nine are Avataras on top of being a berserk or whatever. The guy who represents the Avataras (that are not the Nine) is Alric.
: I think that any race has an equal chance of becoming an
: avatara, biologically; though culturally, a warrior
: like a berserk is unlikely to try to become an
: avatara. A Heron Guard might, as they already dabble
: in the magic of mandrake roots a little. The fir'Bolg
: could, I suppose, as they use magic artifacts like the
: Bow of Furious Incandescence. Humans (of the Province)
: certainly do, as Alric, from Covenant, is the Great
: Hero of the Sword Age.
Wait, aren't there myrmidon sorcerors, like some of the Fallen? So why can't there be berserk sorcerors?
: Each kingdom in the Province has it's own king. Alric was
: the some royalty of Covenant when it was first sacked,
: as said on "Flight from Covenant"
: ("Mauriac was Prince Regent here during Alric's
: adolesence..."). In Myth II, as he's the only
: leader left standing, and Madrigal is the most
: powerfull city left standing, he becomes the king of
: Madrigal. The other cities, rebuilt, presumably have
: their own kings now, though chances are Alric is ruler
: of the Province as a whole, whatever that title would
: be, and is the only real avatara left. The rest of the
: Nine were also likely leaders of various kingdoms and
: domains before they were destroyed, seeing as Alric
: was from Covenant.
I think that all humans would flock to Alric as the savior and all that after the Great War and he would immediately become king of all humans, whether or not he wanted to.
And Alric is not nessecarily the only Avatara left. He's the only one of the Nine left.
: White magic probably comes from studying without selling
: your soul, just using something like the scientific
: method to see what does what in the magical world. But
: that takes time and determination and purity of
: thought to learn how to do things well; why do that
: when you can just cut off your face or sell your soul
: for a quick magical fix?
Now, with regard to SiliconDream,
First off, the Nine are tacticians. See the myth manual. Therefore, they are a council, trying to determine how to use what they have. It's in their best interest to have someone who knows what each persona can do. Hence one person per unit type. And these people have to be generals and generals are probably, in the myth world, the best fighters and magic users.
Alric was the leader of the Nine. It says so under the listing for The Nine in the Myth glossary. And he probably had that possition because he was the Avatara leader and because he was a king.
We don't see many wizards in Myth because they aren't part of the Legion. And I bet a lot of them died during the first 14 years of the war. There aren't many wizards in myth 2 because first, you have to wait for a whole new generation of people. Then you have to train them. And what, is Alric going to be able individually train thousands of potential wizard?
Maybe Rabbican was the only member of the Nine who was defending Madrigal at the time.
And The Nine like wearing masks because they are really ugly. Did you see Balor's head? He is ugly too.
