: I have to point this out: While reading the journal entry
: for The Gate of Storms, I noticed the pre-game pic
: with 3 of the Nine. This would seem to support the
: theory that the Nine are really not all powerful
: sorcerors, but merely the most powerful of each type
: of unit. They look to me like a Heron Guard, a Warlock
: and an Avantara. Maybe the other 6 of the Nine are a
: dwarf, bowman, j-man, warrior, berserk and fir'bolg.
: The Avantara is Alric, of course. And Rabbican would
: probably be the Warlock because he fought the dream
: (read "magic") duel with Shiver.
That's an interesting way of looking at it. There is one problem, though. If one is a J-man and one is a Heron guard, that would screw up the myth world. Herons and J-men are the same thing at different times. That heron guard could be something different, maybe a scrael. Hmmm...
But how can you even think of some really smart & wise dwarf wizard? :)
The way I've always seen it has been like this: There are those avatara guys, all of which are powerful sorcerers and can cast these cool spells (called dreams) and are pretty good at most other things. I just couldn't imagine a powerful wizard coming from the ranks of Zerks or dwarves (in the index in the back of the Myth II manual, the entry for the nine says that they were all powerful sorcerers).
I'm ranting. I'll stop now and start thinking.
