: While yes, the Fallen Lords were bonded to Balor, they
: did not gain their power from him. They contained
: their own. The Deceiver fell into the ice when a band
: of men from the Legion attack him after he was so weak
: (from the Watcher) he couldn't flee or fight back.
: That was in December. Balor fell in July of next year.
: How can you relate the two events which are separated
: by eight months?
But what about the Deceiver's "crossing the Stair of Grief" which we hear of after we escape the Tain? That's well past December. Here's what I think...
Winter - The Deceiver and the Watcher clash at Seven Gates, Deceiver is bested and dissappears (probably runs off through odd angles, or maybe dies and finds a loophole back to life).
Spring - The Deceiver returns and crosses the Cloudspine at the Stair of Grief. Maeldun loses the southern passes as well. The Dark re-enters the west.
Summer - Balor is killed. The armies of the Dark collapse (though the Fallen Lords still have their own powers, and their living servants like Ghols). The remaining Fallen are hunted down and killed, including the Deceiver, who is pushed back to the Stair and plunged into the Dramus river.
