No evidence? He was an archmage in Myth II, but not Myth. Invulnerability certainly seems like a trait one could get through magery. There is no evidence he had it before that.

I accept that just fine. If the Deceiver didn't order them to kill Alric, word would get out. He would just have to send a mediocre foirce and hope for the best. If Alric gets killed, he hasn't lost anything.
