: This is the one thing I do think is good evidence that
: something funny was up (other than the relative ease
: of freeing Alric from that containment field, and
: perhaps the "suspicious" circumstances of
: Alric being sent out there in the first place). The
: Deceiver was forcefully bound to Balor, he had no
: great love for him or the dark cause. So, he may have
: wished to be freed, but perhaps couldn't act directly
: against Balor, only tricking others to do so. I dunno,
: maybe.

I hate to keep this going, even for one more post, because it seems as if this argument has been exhausted for the time being, but I think it can be determined that something was a little strange, from either side, Dark or Light. I mean, Balor is the one whose forces swept across the countryside, sacking and razing all that stood in their way. I doubt he'd let Alric slip away so easily, with his weapon and with "false" information that would do *him* in. Alric was apparently under the impression that once Balor was killed, the Fallen Lords would fall. Not the case, but somebody convinced him of this. Something had to have been up.

Perhaps the Deceiver could not act against his master. He had to find ways around the bind between him and Balor. Also, another possibility of why the D could not attack Balor directy is he would probably get beaten pretty badly, and if he risked the chance of losing, then he'd surly attempt to flee after the lost fight...right in the armies of the other Lords which guarantees his temporary or permanent death.
