I believe we may never know who the Head really is. Whether he is some sort of divine being sent to keep the cycle going, or to destroy it, or whether he is just a severed head that has been animated by some form of magic, I don't know. Does it actually say anywhere where the head actually came from? Its from Muirthemne isn't it? Buried under a thousand tons of sand and rock.
