If it is number one, when did Alric and the Deceiver first become chummy?
The Deceiver: We know he is an avatara from the Wolf Age (which was the age in which Balor attacked) and that he was converted to the Dark by Balor (and thus renamed The Deceiver). The earliest mention of him is 12 years before where you start in Myth I (38 years after the sacking of Muirthemne).
So when was he actually turned? Well, we know that from Myth II (set 60 years after the end of Myth I) it was 110 years ago that Muirthemne was sacked. That makes it 50 years before the end of Myth I (I'm a mathematical genius). About 1 year before the end of Myth I (when the game actually starts), Alric is grown up and Mauriac is still a soldier. We know that Mauriac ruled as prince regent during Alrics adolescence. If Mauriac had also ruled during the time of Muirthemne's sacking, he would be over 50 by now (and he doesn't seem to be from what you see). So, seeing as though Mauriac must be older than Alric (otherwise why would he rule as regent if Alric was older?) it is also obvious that Alric was not even born at the time of Muirthemne's sacking.
Now it is not definate that Myrdredhad been turned by the time of Muirthemne's sacking. The earliest we know that he became the Deceiver is when in Myth I it says that he fought with the Watcher 12 years ago (38 years after the sacking of Muirthemne) but we also know that he had ancient rivalries with many of the Fallen. This either means he has been The Deceiver for a long time (and therefore in the East with the Fallen - away from Alric) OR that his rivalries go back to when he was Myrdred (in which case he must have been in the East a lot to develop these rivalries - away from Alric). He is in the east the first time we see him in TFL, trying to cross the Cloudspine.
In my oppinion, it is unlikely that he managed to get friendly with Alric before Alric was captured. Alric was generally around quite a lot and never went off and disappeared until then.
Wow, thats the longest post I ever did and it was fun! Maybe I'll get back into posting stuff here again! (**agonising groans from the audience**).
