: It's very vague and the author is speculating :
: "...doubtless the man met a terrible
: fate..." -- "...even as he secured Dark's
: victory, Moagim himself was captured..."
: It is doubtless, but no fact. Though, if the hero did
: vanquish Moagim or something else along those lines
: his name probable would have been remembered.
It's unknown what happenbed to the hero, but what happened to Moagim is well documented. The four tireless horses thing is pretty specific.
: Moagim was captured as he nearly secured the Dark
: victory? By whom and how? Wouldn't that gentlemen who
: lead the army or set the trap be considered a hero?
Moagim didn't nearly secure the dark's victory, he DID secure the dark's victory. That's why the Wind Age was a dark age. Maybe the guy who set the trap was the hero referred to and he died later, but the order in which things are listed suggests otherwise, as does the fact his name is forgotten. The identity of the hero may have been determined by some mages or something, or he may have just been the light's leader. Either way, his identity is pre-determined. The hero isn't just whoever comes out on top.
: I'm not trying to argue your point, yes Moagim most
: likely wiped out the hero of the time, but its very
: shady as to what truly happened.
What did happen to the hero is unclear, but it's heavily implied that he died before Moagim. It would be reasonable to assume Moagim killed him.
