: What think you, Monsieur Wellington?

Methinks I like it very much. The flying shovel head thing looked really cool (especially with the attack frequency jacked up really high, so there were shovels heads machine gunning all over the map and collecting in piles wherever you fought a battle), but it really is a silly idea. I had thought about some kind of dwarf-built shovel with replaceable heads, but really, how many of those things could you carry? Rocks works a lot better. Thank you.
As to how it's going to work: I want this unit to be useful, like an archer, someone you can put in a line and have them let fly. Although I love the idea of having them dig up rocks, I think it would require way too much micromanagement--for every shot you would have to do two actions, which would get tricky if you had a whole wave of thrall coming at them. So I'm just going to assume they automatically pick up a rock when they attack (adding the dig sequence sounds cool, but it would slow the attack way down). I'll just use these guys in rocky levels (outdoor deserts, forests, glaciers etc.) and normal jmen any place you wouldn't be likely to find rocks (indoors, etc).
The damage will be about the same as a berserk's sword swing. These guys are pretty strong, after all--they each carry around 1350 pounds of gold all the time (nine tiles, each the weight of a man, so roughly 150 pounds per tile--peasant weight, not berserk weight).
Thank you very much for the suggestion. You have saved my levels from utter silliness.
