Yeah, I have a feeling that if Connacht came back and asked where they'd kept the Ibis Crown while he was gone, they'd give it back to him. That's the problem with succession in a world where some people live forever. Maybe this is what Balor was up to when he sacked Muirthemne, but nobody recognized him (except Alric--maybe he'd heard rumors about Balor's behavior at the sack).
Okay, apparently Ceiscoran was not the last emperor. All we know about him in fact is that he made the copies of the crown. I guess we just have "Anonymous" in that part of the line of succession, then, which seems like an oversight. Surely the Emperor of the Cath Bruig would have been an important historical figure in the Great War--Muirthemne's fall wasn't the first thing Balor did, apparently, just the most important early strategic move. There should be some mention of this guy! Was he one of the Nine? Maybe it was the Ten before the sack...
