: I'm sure some people have already thought of this (is it
: forrest who said he was making a map of the
: runestones?), but WHERE ARE THE RUNESTONES?
Nobody publicly knows where any of runes are, though I agree it's safe to assume that Crom Crauch is near the Ghol and Dwarven lands.
What I've done is create a map of Myth divided into 49 sectors, a 7x7 grid. I belive one rune to be in each of these sectors, as the original One Dream from which Wyrd awoke was where his vision of the known world came from. However, I also belive that the final map will be a mirror of the world of Myth. Literally. The locations of the runestones are flipped from where you would think them to be.
The Rotting Mist Dream is supposed to be taught by Crom Crauch. Where is there lots of mist? The Blind Steppes, and the Drowned Kingdom. If you flip the map vertically, the Blind Steppes are in the southeast, where the Ghol lands would be normally. This is what tipped me off. However, if you flip the map horizontally and vertically, the Drowned Kingdom is in the southeast. That would make sense too. So my map is a probability map; where the runes MIGHT be. Here's what I've got so far...
Crom Crauch (Rotting Mist Dream)
Explained above.
Probably locations:
Sector 6,6 (Cavan Bight); 6,7 (Strand); 7,7 (Untamed Lands)
I'd bet on the Untamed Lands, as that sector is closest to the Ghol lands around Stoneheim, and it's a possible location with both the verticle-flip and double-flip theories.
Sun Shower Dream
The Deep was made by a meteor impact. This could be misinterpeted as a "sun shower", so I suspect that this is the landmark to be flipped in order to find the Sun Shower Dream's runestone.
Probably locations:
2,6 (Covenant); 3,6 (Chalk Cliffs); 5,6 (Tarhan Downs); 6,6 (Cavan Bight)
Dream of Unlife
It is said that the lands northeast of Gower are the home to horrible dark forces and monsters. Thus, I suspect this to be the landmark where one would find the Dream of Unlife.
Probably locations:
7,6 (Stoneheim); 1,6 (Southwestern Ocean)
Shaking Earth Dream
Where's the earth most likely to shake? Tharsis. And since Tharsis is dead-center on the Myth map, that means that, however you flip the map, Tharsis is still Tharsis. Thus..
Probably locations:
4,4 (Tharsis)
Other dreams I can't think of how to equate to physical landmarks. Dispersal Dream, Whisper/Nightmare Dream, Confinement Dream, Binding Dream (which GURPS says is synonymous with the Confinement Dream, but it's obviously not), Dream of Fear, Dream of Compulsion, Slow Dream, Daze Dream, and the 38 (37, actually) unnamed others. But if you have any ideas, we can use my formula to find probably locations for them. An interesting thing, though, is that two sectors (1,2 and 1,7) are nothing but ocean.
