: Hmm... I was under the impression that Myth I took place
: at the end of a Dark Age and the dwan of the Light
: age.
That's what we always thought; that Tireces had ruled the Age of Reason, the Myrkridia ruled an unnamed dark age, Connacht ruled in the Wind Age, then Balor in the Wolf Age, then Alric in the Sword Age. But GURPS says that the Wind Age was when the Myrkridia ruled, the Wolf Age when Connacht ruled, and the Sword Age when Balor came around; but that Balor died prematurely, he should have ruled for another thousand years. By all appearances we are in a new Light Age, but the Dark Age was unusually short, and should still be going.
BTW, Silicon, I *love* your theory. But one question: what about the unnamed hero who was defeated by Moagim, and the unnamed Leveller who are defeated by Connacht? Do they fit into your cycle? Lemme think aloud for a sec...
Second Era
Tireces (Alric), the Great Hero, defeats
unnamed (Connacht), the Leveller, beginning the
Age of Reason
Third Era
Moagim (Alric), the Leveller, defeats
unnamed (Connacht), the Great Hero, beginning the
Wind Age
Fourth Era
Connacht (Connacht), the Great Hero, defeats
unnamed (Alric), the Leveller, beginning the
Wolf Age
Fifth Era as it SHOULD be
Balor (Connacht), the Leveller, defeats
Alric (Alric), the Great Hero, beginning the
Sword Age
Or...
Good Alric defeats Bad Connacht
Bad Alric defeats Good Connacht
Good Connacht defeats Bad Alric
Bad Connacht defeats Good Alric
Yep, that works just fine! And it makes perfect sense that, since the unnamed Leveller of the Wolf Age is called "Moagim reborn" by some, he would be Alric's spirit, since Alric was Moagim.
