: I do agree that Alric may be the leveller, perhaps he is
: even Moagim reborn? Note the lack of cavalry (after
: being drawn & quartered, one would dislike
: horses). Also, maybe Alric really is supposed to be
: the leveller of the age, but he is much stronger (a
: demigod himself?) and perhaps can resist the spirit.
There are no innate magical abilities, so this is unlikely.
: However, it seems that both of these theories make sense,
: but a third seems much mor plausable. GURPS:Myth goes
: out of it's way to note that Connacht began to disrupt
: the cycle during his time as emperor of the Caith
: Bruig. I hadn't seen this topic discussed earlier, and
: apparantly we all thought that Soulblighter had been
: the first to try such a thing. It seems to me that the
: disruptions were started by Connacht and the cycle was
: fully out of whack by the time Alric came around. It
: should take the gods a little while to take care of
: those things that Connacht did and set the cycle
: straight, if they ever do again.
Soulblighter didn't try to disrupt the cycle. It was supposed to be dark. If he had won, it would have fixed things.
Also, don't forget that Balor's unit type in TFL explicitly said he was the leveller.
I think it was the head that screwed things up. I'm not sure what exactly he was trying to do, but breaking the cycle seemed to have been part of it. Without his interference, the light would have lost in a year or so.
