In Response To: A question about GURPS Myth (David Wellington)

: Hey! I'm too cheap to buy the GURPS book, so I wonder if
: you folks could help me out. I've been working on a
: solo campaign detailing the Fall of Muirthemne and the
: birth of the Jmen and I'm just wondering if there's
: anything in there about it. Specifically I want to
: know the chronology they lay down there, what kind of
: units (and generals) Balor sent in to do the job, who
: the last Emperor (before Alric, of course) was
: (Ceiscoran?) and if the Heron Guardsman who came up
: with the idea for taking up tiles has a name (or was
: it a mutual decision on the whole guard's part?). My
: campaign is going to be amazing--new types of Jmen,
: all new maps, hopefully even some new collections, but
: I want it to be as accurate as possible, too.

Well...you're in luck, there's lot in here about Jmen. First of all, all but 100 Heron Guards fell when the empire fell. Also, inside the city there are many Myrkridian Ghosts and the Spider Cult (there's not much about the cult, except founded by Smiths who created weapons with eerie motifs.)

Apparantly Connacht was still considered the then-current emperor when the city was sacked, but when Alric announced who he BELIEVED to be the Leveller (it's more than likely Connacht, but it's not definate :p), the idea of worshipping Balor became a bad idea for most of the remaining Heron Guard.

A web of well-maintained roads led from all points of the compass to mighty Muirthemne, the capital, which once boasted 100,000 inhabitants." Also, there may still exist many magical artifacts (although this may have been put in for roleplaying purposes) inside Muirthemne, so you don't have to limit yourself to just those which are mentioned in the game.

Also, early Heron Guards would rarely have a number much over six, being assigned a number randomly from their class as usually only as many as 6 were chosen from a class of hundreds. However, there must have been a particular influx of people joining , remember Twelve Serpent Falling Eagle?

It doesn't seem to mention exactly who was present at the sacking of the city (although I may be missing some part), but a hoard of Myrmidons, Soulless, and a few TRO seems the most plausable, as the Heron Guard would have been a major challenge for Ghols, Thrall, and Wights.
