"A small third group says that the unarguable and unprecedented delay between the arrival of Balor and the comet brings to doubt whether he really WAS the Leveller. Learned audiences usually great this theory with laughter"
Just thought i'd throw that in there...
I do agree that Alric may be the leveller, perhaps he is even Moagim reborn? Note the lack of cavalry (after being drawn & quartered, one would dislike horses). Also, maybe Alric really is supposed to be the leveller of the age, but he is much stronger (a demigod himself?) and perhaps can resist the spirit.
However, it seems that both of these theories make sense, but a third seems much mor plausable. GURPS:Myth goes out of it's way to note that Connacht began to disrupt the cycle during his time as emperor of the Caith Bruig. I hadn't seen this topic discussed earlier, and apparantly we all thought that Soulblighter had been the first to try such a thing. It seems to me that the disruptions were started by Connacht and the cycle was fully out of whack by the time Alric came around. It should take the gods a little while to take care of those things that Connacht did and set the cycle straight, if they ever do again.
