: Llancarfan may be the palace proper and nearby grounds,
: whereas Muirthemne is the entire city. I used to know
: what "Llan" means; do we have any Welsh
: folks in the Asylum? Does it mean "lake?"
: Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec empire, was on
: an island in the middle of a lake; perhaps there was a
: lake surrounding Muirthemne, or within Muirthemne and
: surrounding the palace, before the Dark came and
: turned the place into a dust bowl.
I don't know for sure, but I know one thing; Llanfairpollgwynygyllgogerichwyrndrobll Llantisiliogogoch (sic - if you dare) is a town in northern Wales. Llan could mean "town" or some such.
Would it be too much of a stretch to *gasp* assume that Llancarfan just is another name of the city?
