what with the myrkridia hordes destroyed cities and such a lot of people think the end of myth 2 is STILL a dark age that balor just isnt around to see...

I dont think you get a chance to 'wait a few years' to kill the leveller, im sure its a one time thing even if you are 'supposed' to win, and I'm pretty sure the first time the cycle was really even attempted to be broken was soulblighter, I dont think anyone even really knew about it until then.
