: I'm sort of leery about buying it...as someone who's not
: really a BC fan (Its well written, but Myth's
: marginally more heroic feel is pretty gritty to me),
: and because I'm not sure I'd like the rules (they may
: work, they may not).
: If you'd honestly recommend it, even to a user of another
: system, simply to borrow from and convert and
: what-not, I'll look into it. Otherwise, not worth it.
As far as D&D books go, I'd say it's the most usable I've seen. As I've said, the magic system is completely new and (I think) very, very good. Allows for customisation of the base spells, mixing them to generate different effects, and inventing your own spell. It's worth a look simply for that.
And, as I've said, the three levelled combat system is quite good as well. I know others who have converted the squad level and army level combat systems to other games quite easily - they allow you to run battles without the complications of handling each 'soldier' individually.
Seriously, it's almost a game of its own, with only the basic skeleton of D20 remaining. I'd recommend it to any roleplay fan, regardless of whether or not like they D&D. It could easily be used to run a Myth game, actually.
