As much as I'm supposed to defend that idea, I must admit that I came upon it purely by coincidence. I had the idea that his scepter was the head, but first I had to make sure he didn't have the scepter before that. So I looked through all of the pictures of the deceiver from pre/postgame pics and made sure to look at his scepter.
I found only one picture of the D before he was plunged into the Dramus. That was the pregame pic that shows alric being interrogated by the D. D has something that looks like his scepter, but could be something else. I decided to play it safe and check the others, and there I found the impaled head thing. Got me thinkin'
