Only thing I've been able to find out about him is that he's the son of a witch named Sycorax, who was origionally from Algiers (in Algeria, south of Spain). Caliban was "not honour'd with a human shape".
Caliban wasn't a very nice guy (voodoo practitioner) and used a demon called Setebos.
Caliban was basically what we'd call now, in our modern society, a moron (or village idiot, depending on what you call modern)
