: This seems very good, but one comment.
: I'd make the Cath Bruig a little less helpless.
: Not much, as they are losing badly. But it should be
: possible to win a fight with the Myrkridia.
: If "barbarians" can defeat the Myrkridia,
: surely the Cath Bruig can at least defend themselves
: when they have the courage to stand and fight, instead
: of running or being paralized with fear.
: When (not if) they don't...routing armies take god-awful
: casualties.
: Thusly, "It seemed none could stand against the
: terrible Myrkridia, as whole armies were devoured, and
: entire cities erased from the world."
: Keeps the Myrkridia terrifyingly potent and potently
: terrifying, but doesn't make the Cath Bruig completely
: unable to do anything but man the walls and pray until
: suddenly Connacht comes and it becomes hunting season
: on Myrkridia (sooner or latter).
That's how I intended it to be read. Not that the Bruig CAN'T fight, but that they DON'T because it's more prudent to run than to fight a battle of attrition against the Myrkridia. After all, Old Heron Guy saves the Narrator from some Krids, a small victory, but then tells him "don't be stupid, kid. run!" Connacht just shows them all how it could be prudent to stand and fight.
