This seems very good, but one comment.
I'd make the Cath Bruig a little less helpless.
Not much, as they are losing badly. But it should be possible to win a fight with the Myrkridia.
If "barbarians" can defeat the Myrkridia, surely the Cath Bruig can at least defend themselves when they have the courage to stand and fight, instead of running or being paralized with fear.
When (not if) they don't...routing armies take god-awful casualties.
Thusly, "It seemed none could stand against the terrible Myrkridia, as whole armies were devoured, and entire cities erased from the world."
Keeps the Myrkridia terrifyingly potent and potently terrifying, but doesn't make the Cath Bruig completely unable to do anything but man the walls and pray until suddenly Connacht comes and it becomes hunting season on Myrkridia (sooner or latter).
