that is what i was thinking. it must take immense power to controll fire, and their mana is simply letting them recover after they throw a fireball. so maybe when they die, they are simply forced to let go of their controll, and simply incinerate. we never see a lock die anywhere but in battle where they are controlling their fire, so maybe if they just die at home, while not using magic nothing happens.
