Well, the fetch are priestesses, most likely of the 'Dark Gods' wyrd might take it as competition. He may even concider them a threat thus the smiting.
of course he doesnt smite in the tain which is both dark (no sun which I've always assumed was the eye of wyrd) and most likely not even on the same plane of existance...
Warlocks might dissolve because its been implied they gave up their soul... Perhaps they are being sucked into hell...
And the Myrkridia dont turn into shadows, they MELT. I see them being like magically grown and it destabilizes them and then... they die and smoosh down
Meh that ones a bit far fetched.
