: body. Warlocks might, in their pursuit of knowledge,
: have discovered something that makes them unwelcome
: within the dream like fetch, forcing them to mask
: themselves in some way. Otherwise it seems to me that
: they would have to be made of some magical substance

Or perhaps since they are lesser mortals, their magic overwhelms them at their death (fire magic is fickle afterall).
