According to Vedic tradition the Aryans, who became the upper caste of indian civilizatin after their subjugation of the harapans, were distinguished from the lower classes by their being refered to as "twice-born." Though I havent found anything explaining why they were called "twice-born" exactly, I think that, judging from SB's oreintal stylings (he looks a lot like certain japanese wood carvings), I think that what bungie is doing here is simply changing the inflection (just like they pluralized "avatar"), meaning that Damas is some exotic nomad who came out of the east. Other theories: he might be the only survivor of some extinct aristocracy or "twice-born" might refer to him before & after his immortality ritual.
Has anyone ever found out where "Damas" is from? Anshar sounds like it could also be indian, but where is that name coming from? I dont remember ever seeing it...
