: Yeah, and speaking of which, I was thinking last night it
: would make a lot more sense for Connacht to use two
: hand-axes rather than one big slow heavy axe,
: considering the Myrkridia's prime advantage is speed,
: and to fight them would require not just brute
: strength and the ability to hit hard, but speed the
: the ability to avoid being hit, since you can't really
: block a claw with your arm. So Connacht would appear
: in combat a great martial arts master, able to
: transition seamlessly between stillness and motion,
: hardness and softness... feint ever so slightly to
: avoid a Krid's lunge and then cleave off the back of
: its skull as it flies past you, carrying that swing
: through to turn you back about to strike at the next
: one with your other hand.
...A martial arts master? With an axe?
That's either an incredibly awesome thought or insane. But it certainly beats him being done as "Conan of Gower", so to speak, and would work better.
Fighting the Myrkridia
: requires two fast weapons that can still each deliver
: a killing blow from a powerful enough hand, which is
: why I'd think hand-axes would work better than a
: single large battle-axe.
I'm not sure it necessarily "requires" two weapons, but as he's apparently not wearing much in regards to armor (at first), he needs something to allow him to attack and defend virtually at the same time. So that works.
: I'm really liking this image of Connacht standing his own
: amidst a horde of Myrkridia, piling their corpses at
: his feet and standing upon them as more charge in.
Yeah. Two hand-axes...
Honestly, I'd have to see it to react to that. I agree with the reason for concluding it, but "wielding two axes at once" is somewhat harder for me to mentally picture than two swords at once (I wouldn't say it can't be done, as I know little about the subject.).
But this is shaping up very nicely. Is there any basis for imagining Connacht as "twin axe fighter" (that is, is this inspired by something you read or saw somewhere)?
