You could replace bowmen with spearmen and flame arrows with guys-on-foot-lighting-the-brush-on-fire if you want, and it works just the same. Point is, there's burning all over the place (which won't last long out there in rainy old Gower) which forces the Myrkridia into specific routes, and then Connacht is at the main choke point holding them off best he can, while other men throw ranged weapons of some sort at whatever Myrkridia they can manage.
