: Fire+ arrow isn't THAT sophisticated, maybe some tar or
: pitch is involved. I like Forest's version better than
: my version of that, Connacht shouldn't cower.
No, but doing it..."properly" isn't exactly easy. You have to not only have something flamable that sticks to the arrow head, but a good way to light it without burning something you don't want to burn (like the arrow, or your arm)
Also and more importantly, if the Men of Gower are "barbarians", even normal archery is a slight stretch (inconcieveable, no, unlikely, yes). Some might disagree, but that's my view. After all, if the Province had to ally with the fir'bolg to get bowmen in its ranks, Gower having archers of its own is hard to imagine.
I don't think the Myrkridia should be entirely unkillable before Connacht of course, they should just be harder. As it is Myrkridia already win vs any other non hero melee unit in the game, so you would have to outnumber them. They apsolutly butcher warriors but I like to think of this legion as being mostly warriors with a
few of the remaining elite herons as leaders, who can sorta hold their own vs the myrkridia.
I'd say that "a" Heron Guard should be able to beat a Myrkridia. Being outnumbered versus the Myrkridia will thusly get your butt kicked seven ways to Sunday, but fighting one on one is simply going to be far too close for comfort (it isn't impossible, but you'll have more gray hairs after that battle than before it).
The Myrkirida may be ferocious and terrifying, but Heron armor (even Warrior armor to some degree) should not be virtually useless against their claws. So maybe boost Heron damage reduction? That's just a thought, not a "must do".
My point there is this: The Heron Guard is the elite of the Empire, which has (by the skin of its teeth, admitedly, but it has) held against the Dark. So the Heron Guard should be able to face the Myrkridia...its just spread too thin to have the "firepower" to do much. After all, the Empire has more than just "nightmares made flesh" to face, and unlike the undead, the ranks of the living are not endless.
