: Probably not. When did the last of the
: "non-northern" cities fall, and when is the
: "seventeenth year of the war"? I'm not sure,
: but I don't think it took ten years to conquer the
: Province. Countng or not the years the Forest Giants
: helped hold the passes.
Why wouldn't it take ten years to conquer the Province? We know the War in the West has been going 17 years, why should we expect that the great and mighty South would fall fast and the North hold off the Dark for most of that time?
I think the War in the North probably refers to the time since the Province fell. Since the Dark broke through the passes, the south held managed to hold them off for ten years, and then since the Province fell, the North has been holding them off for another seven years before the game begins. Makes sense - take about the same amount of time to conquer each half of the West, a little less for the weakened second half.
