In Response To: Re: The faceless nameless hero (General Pepper)

: In myth I don't think there are any gameplay levels that
: he says he was in that there are no warriors
: present... Thats what I always assumed he was, a
: warrior of the legion...

: And in myth 2 its a bit more shakey, but chances are hes
: a warrior too since hes going to go compete in the
: Heron Guard championship thing.

There are probably some that he supposedly took part in that he technically isn't on the map for, although I'm not sure off hand exactly which ones qualify there.
The journal seems the work of one person, trying to give a "historical" account of the conflict, hence writting of events he hasn't taken part in but merely been told of.

Regarding Myth 2...one point to keep in mind on "The Journal Writer is a Warrior".
Yes, we stop using Warriors (we=the player). But look at the pre-game pictures. They're definately still around, and not just as far rear area garrison troops.

My personal thoughts, this applying to Myth: TFL, not Myth 2 is that he's a...call it "elite warrior". In Roman terms, a Centurion. Someone with experience, intelligence, and proven ability. (A Warrior Captain?) One reason to support this, even if he's not present (we don't see any warriors in the last few battles, if I remembe correctly, in game) is this:
Alric chose a hundred picked men to come with him in somethign only marginally less sucidal than the Last Charge of the Legion. That would mean that the Journal Writer is either very lucky, or very good, or both. (in Myth, probably both) Since it would be an even shakier case that he's a Journeyman or a berserk, either in terms of story or unit presence, that leaves a warrior or a fir'bolg. (judging by what we see of the dwarves, certainly at least two entries cannot have been written by one...take a guess as to which. Hint: The levels involve dwarves. And ghols.) I'm fairly confident a fir'bolg would not refer to the Legion as a "bunch of hardasses" (just doesn't sound right, and no I don't have anything to support this), but a warrior probably would.

Ultimately, I suppose I support the idea that the Journal Writer is one guy for the same reason I believe in a rather black-and-white set of morals*.

It feels right. There's definately a strong impression in me, if no one else in this world, that things prove it. But there's no evidence of the sort to take to court.

*My moral beliefs are entirely irrelevant here, but its a good comparison, as my thoughts on both are something based on my best impressions instead of logic alone. What is tr7th, in life or Myth, is shrouded in mystery and more often found as solitary grains of gold dust than as rich veins.

P.S. Regardless of my fairly complete disagreement with you, Kevin, you raise some interesting things to look at. If you're new, welcome, if not, glad to see new activity among those of us who have posted before.
