: You know, I've got to (to use a Microsoftism)
: "embrance and extend" your sarcastic remark
: here. Last AN, while generally fun, rather frustrated
: me at points when we were trying to decide which
: standard maps to play. "Stair of Grief"!
: "Shiver"! "Twice Born"! Everybody
: wanted to play the same maps we always play. Why not
: something new and different, like The Deceiver? Seems
: that would be a great game, everyone controlling a
: single unit (and I was willing to take none and do a
: running commentary, since we had 7 people). Or
: "Relic", like a lot of people were
: suggesting. We never did With Friend Like These, did
: we? That would be a great coop map, since you need to
: divide your attention over so many little groups. Have
: we done Through The Ermine? Seems that that would be
: rather nice too. Gate of Storms? Split our forces up
: and try to take all three paths at once.

Yes! PLease! We need more variety! The only problem is that we all lack skill :P That's not so much of a problem, actually. I'm fine with not have skill as opposed to just having fun. We really should try more 3rd party too, and just say to hell (not offensively of course) with those who couldn't get the map that we were supposed to use. I was disappointed when we couldn't play COD pack 1 because a few people didn't have it, and it kinda annoys me when I'm all set to play a cool Creation map and everyone gets auto-booted because I change to that map.

: Or Chimera levels - while it sucks story-wise, it's still
: official Bungie material, and the gameplay is great.
: (I hope they release a Chimera 1.1 update that fixed
: all the little unprofessionalisms about it, like lack
: of new flavors for changed units. Should we pester
: Badlands? It wouldn't be that hard for them to fix it
: - hell, some of us could probably fix it, mail the
: fixes to them and Bungie for approval, and have them
: release them as a little differential patch (and an
: updated plugin, of course, for those who don't have it
: yet).

Playing the Chimera levels would be awesome! I agree completely about what you say about them. Great gameplay. We should try it sometime.

: On a related note, anyone interested in doing some
: eRPGing when GURPS Myth is released? I've already got
: a bit of a character sketched out, and I've got tons
: of potential NPCs (or PCs, if anyone want to use them)
: and a campaign storyline from an old Myth series I was
: writing.

I've thought about this a lot since the idea of a Myth RPG came about. I would love to, but there are many things we must think about first. First of all, I suggest we don't use the GURPS system. I say that mostly because GURPS is... well, too simple. First of all, we'd all have to buy a few GURPS books if we wanted to play. I suggest we all get the Myth GURPS, but there are many more things that we would need for the specialized gameplay (such as magic, combat, etc.)

GURPS wizards book

GURPS magic items books

GURPS basic set

GURPS compendiums (I and II)

GURPS Grimoire

GURPS Magic

GURPS Undead
I'm not saying that we'd need all of those to play (hell, we'd probably only need the Myth book), but playing without know the rules for magic, undead, and advanced character creation (i.e. beyond the scope that GURPS lite shows), would severely inhibit the gameplay.
Another reason is I'd much rather play with a more specialized system. We all know our own William Wallace is working on creating a Myth RPG as we speak. What I suggest is that (will, you'd better be reading this) we all help Will with editing his RPG when it is finished, and then play with that system. We would definitely use the GURPS myth to base a lot of the game off of, and in the end things should be better for all of us.

Another thing we need to think about is finding someone who could run the game. I don't know if any of you have ever been in an eRPG, but I'm speaking from experience when I say that running one could be a very time consuming job. Plus the person that runs it would have to come up with a storyline that we would all be interested in (hehe, that wouldn't be too hard, we're all obsessed with the myth world anyway, aren't we?).

So what do you all think?
