i remember they killed my king alric first time i played the map, i said wtf (!) cos i didnt saw anything, then playing again and zooming i saw the darkspots comming and the figures torning real and paralizing and draining life.
very hard to kill, you need to have some units, 1v1 you get killed.
looking the myth II manual inside the cd they dont appear in it.
mahir appear in the penult map as you know, maybe i check later what it puts on their quotes.
