Upon rereading Journal entries, it is obvious and I am mistaken. It mentions them being before the throne within an hour of passing through the World Knot. If the World Knot were outside Madrigal then they would have needed an equally impressive mode of transportation to get there so quickly. And I trust the written evidence more than the pictorial evidence. It seems to me that subtle, small things can slip by in pictures and maps, whereas (I assume) written parts such as the Journals get checked for accuracy at least once. That, and I don't have immediate access to the map to check anyway.
