: If I was to hazard a guess I'd say he was a Warrior, for
: if you re-read epilogue you find that he is planning
: to try out for the Heron Guard also heres my evidence
: to disqualify each type except the Warrior.
: Strike one journal writer is not a Heron Guard.
: I'd also say he's not an Archer, due to the fact that if
: he's planning on becoming a Heron Guard, as it is
: known from the flavor text of the Ghost Archers that
: Imperial Archers were only 2nd in greatness to the
: Heron Guard, it also relies on the fact the Heron
: Guard aren't archers.
: Strike two the journal writer is not a Archer.
: He can't be a dwarf as dwarves don't become Heron Guards.
: Strike three the journal writer is not a Dwarf.
: I wouldn't say he was a berserk as he voice does not fit
: with a Berserker, also I don't think berserks have
: ever became Heron Guards, also he was born in Strand,
: and Berserks come from the high North around the
: Twelves Duns and Gower and as it is clear from the
: Myth map, Strand is in the South not the North.
: Strike four the journal writer is not a Berserker.
: That leaves only one real possiblity, he must be a
: Warrior, even though there is not a Warrior on ever
: level does not mean he isn't one, as in Myth we only
: ever control a very small part of the Legion, menaing
: he could be on the sidelines or could hear the story
: of the battle afterwards, but then he never details
: the battles as if he was there, he just fills the
: stuff that happens inbetween each level.
: The M2 Journal Writter concluding to logic is then a
: Warrior.
good point about the honor of being an archer, I forgot about that. Yes, it stands to reason that if we had to put an identity on him then it would be a Warrior, but I still am convinced that the writer is meant to be anonymous. Some levels have no warriors at all anywhere yet he clearly participated in, not to mention the wiping out of all veterans after the 5 champs level in the first myth Also, the thought of us only commanding a small portion of the legion doesn't quite work for me. True, the number of our units are small. But I think this was a game limitation, or a matter of convenience for Bungie. I also think that, like all myths, things aren't supposed to be exactly accurate: they're not supposed to add up completely (kind of like the whole dead/not dead alric thing). Nevertheless, I think it can be safely assumed that the number of men in the different levels (save the champion levels) was supposed to be somewhat figurative or approximate. In the Watcher level we are told a hundred men return to finish the Fallen Lord off, yet you never get more than thirty or thirty-five berserks. Shadow of the Mountain you have to defend the legion's battle standard yet you don't get more than 20 or 30 troops. Surely the LEGION's standard guard is not made up of 30 men! Again, I think this is a simple game engine limitation that can be justified by the very name of the game: Myth. I think the greatest aspect of this game is its mystery, its ambiguity. The game is called MYTH, and I think a lot of little details are supposed to be muddled, inaccurate, and damn near contradictory b/c that's how myths tend to be, especially when compared to the histories that birth them. Either way, the guys at bungie did something right b/c we're still talking about the game seven years later!
