In Response To: The journalist (Wizzy)

: "I have yet to mention our jailor. It is the devil
: Phelot, the shade who decimated Avon's Grove during
: the Great War. It is a wonder he has not yet sought
: vengeance upon us, as he was sorely injured by The
: Deceiver upon our arrival."

: -Myth II, Level 20, "A Murder of Crows"

: Obviously you can infer, from this passage, the
: Journalist from Myth II is either a berserk or one of
: the heron guard. I doubt he'd be an archer, the accent
: is too different.

: I'd almost bet he's a berserk. Though when he does speak
: in this journal, you can notice his voice is calm -
: and most people of this accent don't have the funny
: high pitch to their words as in comparison to when
: they're yelling.

: I may be wrong, but I'd say theres a 75% chance he's a
: berserk.

But a berserk wasn't present during the first few missions against the Baron. So he couldn't be a berserk. According to which characters are in which missions then he is, IF anything, an archer. Archers, as noted in the theories section of this website, are the only units that transcend all myth levels. In fact, every time I play myth 2 I end up with five characters that have survived every mission: one dwarf and four archers. Or perhaps 3 archers, I'm not certain. Regardless, archers are the most likely identity of the author b/c they are in 98% of all missions and they are men of the West, like the warriors. There's no way the author would be a berserk, as noted in the theories section, the author doesn't have that definite attitude and accent characteristic of a berserk. He's reluctant, ignorant of certain events and histories, so he is also not a heron guard.
It is apparent that the author is meant to be mostly ambiguous as to his identity. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say a warrior, or perhaps an archer. But he's not meant to be known, since there is no one unit that is in every mission. Regardless, he seems to be a man of the West; the Province. He's well on in years, but not ancient as the Heron Guard. My guess is he's some former peasant turned soldier. The same goes for the first myth as well.
Check out the theories section of this site and go read up on the journal author and you'll find a lot of really interesting and convincing ideas.
